Saints and Sinners

One of my highschool friends sent this poem. There is certainly a lot of truth in it. I hope you will enjoy it.

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.

There's the guy I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Who's sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

'And why is everyone so quiet,
So somber - give me a clue.'
'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock.
No one thought they'd be seeing you.'

JUDGE NOT!!

Every saint has a PAST...

Every sinner has a FUTURE!

Thanks, Ted. Some really good food for thought.

Ha! I heard a similar joke something to the effect of "A man gets into heaven meets Peter, who decides to give him the tour. As they walking along the man sees a locked door. He says to Peter, "Why is that door locked? I thought we were free to do whatever we wanted and go where ever we wanted up here. What's the deal?" Peter whispers, "That for the people from (insert denomination) and we can't let them out. The man is shocked and asks "Why?" Peter answers, "They think they're the only people who made it."
